The Home Solar unit is a small elaborate system that can power several small devices including laptop computers, lights, waterpumps, TV, Radio and other small appliances. Each system can be stored in a shatter resistant container that easily fits in vehicles, closets or in the garage. Solar panels can be allocated 15 feet from the container while charging.
No detailed assembly required.

One excellent feature of the solar system is its ability to be upgraded at anytime. This small 100 Watt system could be made into a larger 2500 watt system, allowing you to power almost any application in a household or office.
The Home solar unit consist of one 12v Gel Lead Acid Battery, one 10 watt solar panel array, one charge controller interface, one weather-proof rubbermaid shatter resistant container, one 100 watt 140 watt surge DC-AC inverter.

| Household electricity usage examples: |
Before getting yourself involved with thousands of dollars in solar energy products, we recommend that you first test the way solar energy systems work for you on a smaller scale.
Let us say you have a house with 4 light bulbs, each light bulb uses i.e. 30 Watts/per hour, you light up your house with 4 light bulbs for 4 hours per day - that means you need 480 Watts per day for all 4 light bulbs. Still with me ?
Let us say you use a TV set by 60 Watts per hour, you watch TV for 5 hours per day ? Then you will need 300 Watts per day. Plus your 4 light bulbs you end up with 780 Watt per day electricity consumption.
Now let us add an energy eater: 1 cooler, power consumption 40 Watts per hour, that makes it in one day 880 Watts per day.
One solar panel of 110 Watts produces by 10 hours of sunlight each day - 1100 Watts or 1.1 kW
So two of them would cover the above electricity consumtion.
You need to store the sun energy in form of a deep cycled battery (what they use in golf cars).
A battery of 12 Volt and 150 Amps will last you for one day; if you take two batteries you will then have a back-up of one day - just in case it rains the next whole day.
A typical deep cycled battery will usually last for 5 years - gel battery are more expensive but will last up to 30 years, just like most of the solar panels.
A controller is needed to prevent the battery from over-charging by the solar panels.
And at last an inverter is only important if you need 110 V or 220 V.
The solar panels and the batteries are moduls - that means, to save money you may operate first a smaller system (less power) but you expand your solar system as your wallet expands. |
